Yorkshire Bring in Faheem Ashraf as Will Sutherland Replacement

Yorkshire have brought in Pakistan allrounder Faheem Ashraf for the Vitality Blast 2026 season. The 32-year-old will also be available for two County Championship matches and joins as a replacement for Will Sutherland, who has been ruled out with a shoulder injury and will not return to Headingley.

Faheem has played county cricket before with Northamptonshire and Sussex. He will join the squad before Yorkshire’s first Blast match against Nottinghamshire at Trent Bridge on May 22 and stay with the team for the full tournament. He may also play Championship games against Warwickshire at Scarborough and the away fixture against Leicestershire in June.

Speaking about the development, Faheem Ashraf said that he is excited to join Yorkshire for the upcoming matches, as it is a great club with a strong cricketing history.

"I'm delighted to be joining Yorkshire. Many of my fellow Pakistan players have represented the club and have spoken highly of both the environment and the quality of players within the squad. I'm really looking forward to arriving at Headingley." said Pakistan allrounder Faheem Ashraf.

Talking about the records, Faheem has played 85 T20 internationals for Pakistan and has also featured in leagues like the Big Bash, BPL and the Vitality Blast. He recently became only the second player in PSL history to score 1000 runs and also take 100 wickets.

Yorkshire's general manager of cricket, Gavin Hamilton, also endorsed the addition of Faheem Ashraf, saying he is an experienced cricketer who will bring plenty of value to the Yorkshire squad in the upcoming games.

"Faheem is an experienced multi-format player who will be a really valuable addition to the squad. He brings a great ability to score quick, lower order runs as well as the skill to make a real impact with the ball." said Yorkshire's general manager of cricket, Gavin Hamilton.
