In what quickly became one of the day’s most alarming yet heroic moments, South Africa’s all-rounder Wiaan Mulder took a dramatic tumble early in the second ODI against Australia, only to bounce back and claim a big wicket just moments later.

Batting first at the Great Barrier Reef Arena, South Africa posted a competitive 277 runs in 49.1 overs, anchored by a blistering 88 from Matthew Breetzke and a solid 74 from Tristan Stubbs.

When Mulder came in to bowl at the start of his 10th over, he delivered the ball but then slipped spectacularly off the popping crease, collapsing in full view of shocked fans. After a tense pause, he dusted himself off and returned to the attack almost instantly—with resolute focus.

Just his second ball, Mulder struck gold: Australia captain Mitchell Marsh (18) flew one in the air and was comfortably pouched by Corbin Bosch at mid-on.

Aus crumbled quickly: they lost four wickets inside the first ten overs of the chase despite an excellent 87 by Josh Inglis: to 193 all out in 37.4 overs, South Africa were given a solid 84-run victory and an unbeatable 2-0 lead in the three-match ODI series.
