The West Indies have encountered a significant setback ahead of Pakistan's three-match ODI series. Their skipper and powerful middle-order batter, Rovman Powell, has been ruled out of the remainder of the series due to a persistent wrist injury. This news comes as a big blow to the team's campaign, particularly in the high-stakes opening clash.
Powell sustained the injury during an attempted catch in a recent T20I series against Australia. This was immediately followed up with rehabilitation. He will not participate in the final T20I, nor the subsequent ODI fixtures. As for now there is no official replacement yet.
