Cricket West Indies (CWI) president Kishore Shallow has reportedly called an emergency meeting following the team’s humiliating performance against Australia in the recently concluded Test series.

The West Indies were bowled out for just 27 runs—their second-lowest total in Test history—during the final match in Perth, raising serious concerns about the team’s form, selection, and long-term strategy in red-ball cricket.

According to Caribbean media, the CWI board will meet this week to discuss the team’s future and review what went wrong during the Australian tour. “This is not something we can ignore,” a senior CWI official told Barbados Today. “The way we collapsed, especially in the last Test, shows that something is fundamentally broken.”

West Indies lost the two-match Test series 2-0, and critics have pointed to technical flaws, poor shot selection, and lack of depth in the squad. Head coach Andre Coley and team director Miles Bascombe are expected to present their reports at the meeting, along with recommendations for the upcoming home season.

President Kishore Shallow is also expected to speak to the players individually and assess the morale inside the camp. “We have to be honest about where we are as a team and make the necessary changes,” he told Loop News Caribbean in a brief statement.

The shocking collapse to 27 all out has triggered backlash from fans and former players alike. Cricket legends like Curtly Ambrose and Ian Bishop have called for a stronger domestic structure and better preparation for overseas tours.

Meanwhile, several names from West Indies A and U-19 squads are being considered for future series, as the board looks to rebuild confidence and competitiveness in red-ball cricket.

The next Test assignment for West Indies is expected later this year, and all eyes will now be on what decisions come out of this urgent meeting.
