West Indies have announced their ODI squad for the Bangladesh tour, giving Ackeem Auguste his maiden call-up. The young batter has impressed everyone in the recently concluded CPL 2025. Playing for the St Lucia Kings, he made a strong impression in the tournament, which encouraged the selectors to give him a chance in the ODI matches against Bangladesh.

Alongside Ackeem Auguste, Khary Pierre also got a recall for the ODI squad that already has two specialist spinners. This decision has been made keeping in view the conditions of the Bangladesh wickets that often assist spin bowlers.

Meanwhile, Alick Athanaze has also been called up to represent the WI ODI side alongside other specialist batters. Alick Athanaze played his last ODI in December last year, so it would be a challenge for him to come back to the squad that has some renowned names like Shai Hope, Keacy Carty, and others.

"The selection of Ackeem reflects the pathway Cricket West Indies is creating for our emerging players who have shown the qualities to perform at the international level. He is a player for the future, one who has progressed from Under-15s to the senior level, and another Academy graduate to feature in an international squad this year," said West Indies head coach Darren Sammy.

He further highlighted that the squad will feature in the ODI and T20I series against Bangladesh with a winning mentality. This series will be important for West Indies, as they will work hard to win it to get an automatic qualification for 2027 Cricket World Cup.

"The squad assembled will strive to maintain a winning mentality and strong team cohesion, essential components for long-term success ahead of the World Cup," Sammy said. "Facing Bangladesh provides another opportunity to earn crucial points in our push for automatic qualification to the showpiece event," said Darren Sammy.

West Indies is slated to play three ODIs in Bangladesh on October 18, 21, and 23. After that, they will come head-to-head against the tigers in a T20I series that is scheduled to start from October 27.
