Ravindra, Ferguson Lead Welsh Fire To Victory Over MI London

Welsh Fire maintained their unbeaten run in The Hundred with a 15-run victory over MI London in Cardiff.

Rachin Ravindra led the way with a brilliant 98 off 44 balls, helping Welsh Fire post 167-5 in the first innings. He smashed seven sixes and shared a 116-run stand with Joe Root.

Root played a calm innings of 29 from 26 balls after Welsh Fire lost Phil Salt and Matt Short early in the innings.

Ravindra then led the fightback and reached his half-century in just 22 balls. His biggest six came against Tom Curran, with the ball going out of the ground.

The New Zealand all-rounder was on track to score the fastest century in The Hundred, beating Harry Brook's 41-ball effort from 2023. However, he got fewer chances to face the ball towards the end and was dismissed with only two balls remaining.

Rachin Ravindra made another important contribution when MI London's chase was nearing its final stages. The New Zealand all-rounder took a brilliant diving catch off his own bowling to dismiss James Vince, who had scored 68 from 38 balls.

Vince's dismissal left MI London needing 46 runs from the final 28 balls. However, they were still in the game with the dangerous Sherfane Rutherford at the crease.

Welsh Fire's fast bowlers then took control of the closing stages. Lockie Ferguson led the attack with a brilliant bowling spell, dismissing key batters including Jason Roy, Sam Curran and Nicholas Pooran. Due to his strong effort, Welsh Fire survived the late attack and secured a narrow victory by 15 runs over MI London.
