Guyana Amazon Warriors defeated Barbados Royals in a commanding style in the CPL 2025. Batting first, Warriors managed to put on a big total of 189 on the scoreboard. This proved a tough chase for the Royals, as their batters didn’t find any momentum to reach even near the Warriors’ total.

When Guyana Amazon Warriors came out to bat in the first innings, they had a clear plan. The formidable hand of Quentin Sampson started the innings briskly. He took on the inexperienced bowlers of Royals smartly, as some of them were playing the tournament for the first time.

Quentin Sampson, as always, showcased his attacking batting style, smashing 3 fours and 4 sixes at a strike rate of 138. He made 50 off 36, giving Warriors a strong base to launch in the later part of the innings.

Shimron Hetmyer, who came to bat at 4th position, was equally good for the Warriors in the whole innings. He batted in full command, giving Royals’ bowlers a belt treatment for the most part of the innings. Laced with 8 fours and 3 sixes, Hetmyer made a fine 68 of just 39 deliveries.

Earlier in the tournament, Shimron Hetmyer was struggling for form, but that changed quickly today. He made full use of the swift batting conditions and played with confidence, making sure to give his partner a solid hand to put on a strong total on the board.

Romario Shepherd also chipped in with a fine cameo. He made 20 off 13 with the help of 2 big sixes. Having such complete performances from different batters, Warriors posted a strong total of 189 on the board.

When Barbados Royals came out to bat in the second innings, they looked uncomfortable from the start. The tight bowling spell of Shamar Joseph and Dwaine Pretorius didn’t allow their batters to settle in. They bowled with good fire and intensity, making sure to keep a consistent pressure on Royals’ batters.

The star of the show, however, was Gudakesh Motie. He proved vital for the Warriors' attack, as he didn’t allow any Barbados batter to play big shots freely. Motie picked up a great fifer in the match by giving away just 21 runs in his four overs.

At the end, all Barbados Royals batters fell cheaply, putting on just 125 on the board. This was a big defeat for them and an eye-opener before the playoffs. They will now definitely look to bounce back strongly in the next matches, as bigger challenges are now coming up in the playoffs stage.
