May 20, 2024
The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup warm-up matches are scheduled from 27th May till 1st June in the USA and Trinidad and Tobago.
In the USA, the matches will be played at the Grand Prairie Cricket Stadium in Texas and at the Broward County Stadium in Florida.
From the Caribbean region, Queen’s Park Oval and Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Trinidad and Tobago will be hosting the warm-up matches.
Out of the 20 teams taking part in the T20 World Cup, 17 teams will get the chance to sharpen their skills in these warm-up matches. However, defending champion England, last tournament’s runner-up team Pakistan, and semi-finalists New Zealand will not be attending these matches.
Champions of the 2009 T20 World Cup and finalists of the 2022 edition, team Pakistan will not be participating in the warm-up matches because they are set to play England in a bilateral four-match T20I series from 22nd till 30th May.
Team England will also not take part in the T20 World Cup warm-up matches 2024 due to the same reason as Pakistan.
Pakistan will kickstart their tournament on 6th June against USA, whereas England will play their first match against Scotland on 4th June.
There will be a total of 16 warm-up matches. Out of these 16 matches, 6 will be played in the USA and 9 in the Trinidad and Tobago. The location of the Bangladesh vs India match on 1st June is yet to be confirmed.
The warm-up matches will follow the same 20-overs per side format but will not hold official international T20 status. Moreover, there will be no ranking system to analyze team or individual performances.
The teams participating in these preparatory matches will be able to utilize their entire 15-player squad. Each team has the chance to play up to two warm-up matches, dependent on their arrival time for the tournament.
