Evloev started aggressively, using his wrestling to take Volkanovski down three times in the first round. However, the champion repeatedly returned to his feet, restricting the previously unbeaten challenger to 31 seconds of control time. Volkanovski found his rhythm in the second round, using precise strikes and improved footwork to counter Evloev’s forward pressure.

The turning point came late in the second round when Volkanovski landed a clean punch that sent Evloev to the canvas. The stoppage came just six seconds before the round was scheduled to end, handing Evloev the first defeat of his professional MMA career.

Volkanovski’s victory also marked a significant milestone in UFC featherweight history. He recorded his ninth victory in a UFC featherweight title fight, moving ahead of former champion Jose Aldo for the most wins in that category. The result further strengthened Volkanovski’s standing among the division’s all-time greats.
