Van Dijk urges Liverpool to Stay Grounded After Galatasaray Win in Champions League

Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk has told his teammates to stay calm after their strong win over Galatasaray in the UEFA Champions League.

Galatasaray came to Anfield on Wednesday with a 1-0 advantage from the first leg, but Liverpool turned things around with a 4-0 victory. The six-time European champions will now face defending champions Paris Saint-Germain in the quarter-finals, the same team that eliminated them last season.

It was an impressive result for Liverpool, especially as they have found it difficult to defend their Premier League title and are currently sitting fifth in the table, behind leaders Arsenal.

Speaking after the match, Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk said that it was a tough contest in which the team showcased its strong character.

"There was a lot at stake, that was pretty obvious, so we had to show how much we wanted it. I think occasionally we have been playing good games but not consistently on a regular basis and it's been frustrating for all of us and for the fans as well." said Virgil van Dijk after defeating Galatasaray in the latest Champions League draw.

He further said that performing consistently in matches is certainly very hard, but the team is up for this challenge, as they know what is at stake.

"It is very hard but that's the hardest thing in life, doing it each and every three or four days. If you do that there's a big chance you become successful.” said Virgil van Dijk.

"That's what you strive for, that's what we had last year, and that's what we try to reach, but you need multiple factors to go your way and now we don't get carried away. We have been having good performances this season and we haven't been able to build on it the next time.” added Virgil van Dijk.

He further said that Liverpool badly needed this victory, as they wanted to calm some angry fans who had directed teasing boos at them at Anfield last Sunday.

"The fans can probably say if we bring that every week on the pitch then there is no issue and we can say if the fans bring that every three or four days then there is no issue either," said Virgil van Dijk.
