Usman Khawaja Voices Concerns Over Pakistan Cricket’s Unstable Setup

Usman Khawaja has raised concerns about the way Pakistan cricket has been run in recent years. The former Australia batter said the regular changes in the coaching staff, selectors and players would make him think twice about taking the Pakistan head coach job.

Notably, Khawaja was asked about the possibility of coaching Pakistan during a recent online interview. He did not rule out the idea completely, but made it clear that the current situation would be a major concern for him.

The left-hander has followed Pakistan cricket closely and has spoken about the team’s problems in the past. According to Khawaja, the cricket board needs to bring more consistency to its setup, otherwise, they won’t be able to achieve positive results in international cricket.

“I find the Pakistani cricket team, I say this always, seems like it’s forever changing. The coaches are forever changing, and the selectors are forever changing. There’s no stability in Pakistan cricket. The stability needs to be found from the top,” said Usman Khawaja.

Khawaja also raised concerns about the way players are handled in Pakistan. He said there is too much movement in and out of the national team, with even the country’s leading players not getting a settled run in the side.

“It feels like Pakistan’s best players are coming in and out. If there was a bit more stability in the future, you could contemplate it. I feel like if I do it in the Pakistani cricket team, I’ll be there one minute, but then be out the next minute,” said Usman Khawaja.

Khawaja made these comments after the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) made major changes to the Test team following defeats in the first two matches against England at Headingley and Lord’s.

Their decision to remove the coaches, including Sarfaraz Ahmed and Umar Gul, has come under heavy fire, as fans are demanding clear answers from the board over how such drastic steps could be taken midway through the series.
