The wicketkeeper-batter of Pakistan, Usman Khan, believes the talks related to Usman Tariq’s bowling action are not concerning, as umpires are there to take a call if something is wrong. He applauded Tariq’s ability to bowl in the right areas, saying that he works very hard to deliver in crunch moments.
"Only the umpire can tell about the action, but he is a very good bowler and is bowling in the right areas. Whenever the team needs it, any changes are handled by the captain and management," said Usman Khan.
The spotlight came on Usman Tariq’s action when he took the wicket of Cameron Green in the 11th over. The Australian allrounder looked visibly frustrated as he made a ‘chucking’ gesture while going back to the pavilion. The wicket of Cameron Green gave Pakistan a vital breakthrough, as he was striking the ball during the middle overs.
Meanwhile, Usman Tariq had earlier responded to concerns around his bowling action. While representing Desert Vipers in the ILT20 last year, Usman clarified that his unique elbow structure does not allow him to fully straighten the arm, which is why people often get confused by his action.
"There are two corners on my elbow which make it hard for me to straighten fully. As history shows, whenever spinners are accused of chucking, they go for lab tests, modify their action, and work on the correct degree of flexion. That sometimes confuses spectators.” said Usman Tariq.
“I have undergone two official tests in Pakistan, and my action was cleared. Unlike others, I didn't have to change anything. I am confident because I know I am not throwing." added Usman Tariq.
The Pakistan team is treating Usman Tariq as their trump card in the ICC T20 World Cup 2026. It would be interesting to see how he will perform against the top teams at the biggest stage, as fans are expecting strong performances from him in crucial matches.
