Tyson Fury Eyes Anthony Joshua Clash After Comeback Return

Tyson Fury Eyes Anthony Joshua Clash After Comeback Return

Tyson Fury is back under the lights on Saturday night, ending 16 months away from the ring with a heavyweight test against Arslanbek Makhmudov at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

The comeback alone is enough to grab attention. What followed made even bigger noise.

Fury has already named the bout he wants after this one. He wants Anthony Joshua.

That instantly pushes the old British super-fight back into focus.

Speaking before his return, Fury said Joshua is the opponent he wants after this weekend, though his immediate attention remains on Arslanbek Makhmudov.

“If it happens, great. If it doesn’t happen, also great,” Fury said.

“I’ve got Arslanbek Makhmudov to think about on Saturday night, but if all goes well, Joshua is the fight I want next.”

Heavyweight rivalry back in focus

The timing suddenly feels interesting again.

Eddie Hearn revealed Joshua is close to resuming full training after delays caused by a car accident in Nigeria. He is also expected to attend Saturday’s event in London, which only adds more intrigue around a possible Anthony Joshua fight.

For a while, that matchup looked like boxing’s missed opportunity. Both men have taken losses, both have miles on the clock, and neither sits at the absolute peak that once made this contest feel unavoidable. Still, the commercial pull remains enormous. When Fury and Joshua are mentioned together, the sport gets loud again.

Before any serious negotiations can begin, Fury has work to do.

Makhmudov remains a dangerous opponent with 19 knockout wins and serious punching power. After back-to-back losses to Usyk, Fury needs this Tyson Fury comeback to show he still has the sharpness and movement required at the top level. A defeat would quickly end talk of a Joshua fight.
