Tridents vs Trinbago: Magical Narine Spell Powers TKR to 35-Run Victory

A four-wicket haul from Sunil Narine turned the game decisively in Trinbago Knight Riders' favour as they beat Barbados Tridents by 35 runs in Bridgetown. After posting 147 for 6, the Knight Riders bowled Barbados out for 112 in 18.3 overs in the CPL 2026 clash.

The key moment in the Tridents vs Trinbago contest came almost immediately after the interval. Barbados lost four wickets for 35 runs during the powerplay, with Narine accounting for three of them. Quinton de Kock and Rivaldo Clarke were both dismissed without scoring, while Chris Green fell to Akeal Hosein shortly afterwards.

That early damage left Barbados chasing the game rather than the target. Zachary Carter and Sherfane Rutherford both made 21, while Daniel Sams added 17 and Shadrack Descarte struck 16. The lower order could not produce enough runs to bring the chase back under control.

The decisive Narine spell finished with figures of 4 for 12 from 3.3 overs. Jyd Goolie also made a major contribution with three wickets for 20, while Lahiru Kumara claimed two for 30. Usman Tariq completed his four overs for only 25 runs as Trinbago's bowling attack kept the scoring rate in check.

Earlier, Nicholas Pooran had supplied the innings that gave the Knight Riders something substantial to defend. He made 59 from 37 balls after a cautious beginning, reaching only one run from his first 10 deliveries.

Pooran then changed the innings with aggressive strokeplay. He hit three successive sixes against Mujeeb Ur Rahman and later cleared the boundary three times in a row against Gudakesh Motie. He was eventually dismissed for 59 with Trinbago on 110 for 3.

Colin Munro provided support with 38 from 32 balls, helping Pooran build a 68-run partnership. The Knight Riders eventually reached 147 for 6, with Motie taking three wickets for 29 and Mujeeb claiming two for 22.

Barbados never recovered from its powerplay collapse. Rutherford's dismissal for 21 left the Tridents eight wickets down for 102, and Narine returned to remove Jakeem Pollard as the final wicket fell at 112, with nine deliveries still available.

The victory keeps Trinbago's qualification hopes alive, while Barbados remain under pressure after another difficult batting performance.
