Broad and Hussain Pick Their Best The Hundred Stars of 2026
The Hundred 2026 awards have delivered a mixture of obvious names, surprise selections and one particularly awkward admission from Stuart Broad.
Sky Sports pundits Broad, Nasser Hussain and Lydia Greenway have picked their standout performers from this season, covering the best local players, overseas stars, newcomers, value-for-money signings, fielders and captains.
Some choices were easy to predict. Others raised eyebrows.
Buttler, Duckett and Corteen-Coleman earn top praise
Broad went for Jos Buttler as his best local player in the men's competition. Buttler is through to the eliminator with Manchester Super Giants and has produced important runs from the No 3 position. Broad also highlighted his leadership within the franchise and his status as one of England's finest white-ball batters.
Hussain took a different route, choosing Trent Rockets opener Ben Duckett. The former England captain praised Duckett's ability against spin and pace, his unusual stroke range and his influence at the top of the order.
In the women's competition, Greenway selected Tilly Corteen-Coleman after her 13 wickets. Her consistency stood out to the former England international, who pointed to the young bowler's performances across multiple seasons.
Marsh and Litchfield stand out among overseas stars
The overseas category brought another pair of big names.
Broad selected Mitch Marsh, pointing to his aggressive batting and influence on winning performances. Hussain also backed the Australian, noting that Marsh has produced runs away from his familiar Headingley surroundings.
Greenway picked Phoebe Litchfield in the women's competition. The SunRisers Leeds batter has led the run-scoring charts and caused plenty of headaches for opposing captains with her range of shots.
Billings gets the strongest backing
The Sam Billings Hundred captain debate barely existed among the two male pundits. Broad and Hussain both chose the Trent Rockets skipper.
Billings arrived at Trent Rockets after winning the previous three Hundred titles with Oval Invincibles. He has since guided his new side straight into the final, with Trent Rockets finishing top of the table.
Hussain added an extra layer to the choice. He pointed to Billings' motivation after his departure from MI London and suggested the captain has used the move as fuel.
That makes the Sam Billings Hundred captain story one of the more interesting narratives heading into the final. He now has a chance to win four consecutive Hundred titles with two different franchises.
Broad admits his value-for-money call was wrong
Broad also admitted he had got one award wrong.
He initially viewed Adil Rashid as a strong value-for-money signing, but the £250,000 price tag changed his thinking. Hussain instead selected Calvin Harrison, who joined Trent Rockets as a late replacement for around £31,000 and collected eight wickets.
Broad agreed with the assessment while still praising Rashid's performances.
Greenway went for Charley Phillips in the women's value category, highlighting her £15,000 price and seven wickets.
Boult, Jacks and Heath make the fielding picks
Other picks included Trent Boult and Adil Rashid in the men's "love to watch" category, while Greenway selected Nat Sciver-Brunt.
For fielding, Hussain chose Will Jacks' spectacular catch but also praised Chris Jordan's consistency. Broad selected Duckett for a crucial run-out, while Greenway opted for Bess Heath.
The The Hundred 2026 awards arrive just as the competition reaches its decisive weekend. The men's and women's eliminators take place at the Kia Oval on Friday, with the finals scheduled for Lord's on Sunday.
