American tennis player Taylor Fritz has withdrawn from the Monte-Carlo Masters due to injury, tournament officials confirmed ahead of the ATP Masters 1000 event scheduled from April 5 to 12 at the Monte-Carlo Country Club in Monaco.
Fritz’s withdrawal follows his recent appearance at the Miami Open, where his campaign ended in the fourth round after a defeat to Jiri Lehecka. The exact nature of the current injury has not been disclosed, though the American has been managing a knee problem since the 2025 off-season.
A tournament spokesman confirmed the development through the event’s social media account, stating: “Taylor Fritz has been forced to withdraw from the tournament due to injury. We wish him a speedy recovery and look forward to welcoming him back soon.”
Fritz will not lose ranking points due to his absence, as he also missed the 2025 edition with an abdominal injury. His one of the best performances at the tournament came in 2024 when he reached the semi-finals before losing to Andrey Rublev, who went on to win the title.
The Monte-Carlo Masters has previously been won by players such as Novak Djokovic, Stan Wawrinka and Stefanos Tsitsipas, while Rafael Nadal holds the record with 11 titles.
