Sylhet Titans defeated Dhaka Capitals in a thriller, courtesy of a fine allround performance by Azmatullah Omarzai in the match. He was the difference between both teams, as his brilliance allowed Titans to survive the attack of Capitals in both innings of the game. He first scored an unbeaten 50 in the first innings and then backed it up by taking 3 crucial wickets while defending the target.

The performance of Dhaka Capitals in the second innings was quite disappointing. Apart from Shamim Hossain’s brilliance, no batter managed to showcase much fight against the Titans, who bowled with superb accuracy to keep things tight.

Batting first, Sylhet Titans started the innings cautiously as they lost Rony Talukdar early in the Powerplay. Their star overseas opener, Saim Ayub, didn’t took much risks after that, as he tried to absorb the pressure by playing sensibly. Unfortunately, he lost his wickets after building a solid foundation, as Mohammad Saifuddin dismissed him for 29 runs.

The captain of Sylhet Titans, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, also showcased a disappointing performance with the bat. He got out after scoring just 6 runs, giving Titans dugout another big jolt in the first innings.

The dismissal of Miraz then brought Parvez Hossain Emon to the crease, who played with a positive mindset to rotate the scoreboard. He made sure to hit the boundaries quickly, so that Titans could reach a respectable total.

Emon lost his wicket in the middle overs when Capitals struck back with a smart bowling plan. He got out after scoring 44 runs, hitting 2 fours and 2 sixes.

The innings of Titans looked in a bit of trouble after the dismissal of Emon, but a brilliant late hitting by  Azmatullah Omarzai changed everything. He played a superb knock that gave Sylhet Titans a much-needed boost on the scoreboard. His unbeaten 50 runs included five fours and three sixes, which allowed the Sylhet Titans to post 173 on the board at the end of the innings.

Early Collapse Puts Dhaka Capitals on the Back Foot

When Dhaka Capitals came out to chase the target, their batters looked completely out of touch against the bowling attack of Sylhet Titans. Both openers went back to the pavilion early due to some aggressive bowling by Azmatullah Omarzai and Mohammad Amir in the Powerplay.

Usman Khan then tried to lift the momentum by playing big shots, however, he also lost his wicket after scoring quick 21 runs. These early jolts disrupted the chase of Dhaka Capitals, as Titans applied more pressure to halt the scoring rate.

The biggest disappointment for the Capitals was their captain, Mohammad Mithun, who got out on a golden duck in the second innings. His dismissal was a big blow for the Capitals team, as they were relying on him to play a big innings.

Interestingly, the arrival of Shamim Hossain at the crease revived the hopes of the Dhaka Capitals. Batting in the lower order, he played a stunning innings that brought the Capitals back into the match.

Striking at 188, he scored unbeaten 81 runs to take Capitals closer to the target, however, the team fell short by just 6 runs. They managed to score 167 at the end of the innings, handing Sylhet Titans a narrow victory in the match. It was still a superb effort from Shamim that showcased his hitting skills and thrilled all the fans who came to watch this encounter.
