Sunrisers Eastern Cape crushed Paarl Royals in the third match of the SA20 2026 league. It was a completely one-sided contest in which the Paarl Royals were bowled out for just 49 runs in the second innings of the match. This humiliating total of Royals has now entered the record books as the lowest score in the history of the SA20 league.

The batting display by Paarl Royals was very disgusting, as no batter was able to manage the pace offered by Anrich Nortje and Adam Milne. Both bowlers dominated the sloppy batting lineup of the Royals, which looked completely clueless in yesterday’s match.

Batting first, Sunrisers Eastern Cape got off to a strong start. Their star openers, Quinton de Kock and Jonny Bairstow, led the way by hitting bowlers aggressively. They utilized the conditions of the Powerplay smartly and scored quick runs to give the Sunrisers a fast start. The hitting of Quinton de Kock was especially impressive, as he struck all the bowlers fearlessly.

The partnership of Quinton de Kock and Jonny Bairstow was finally broken in the 9th over when Baartman dismissed Bairstow on 31 runs. His dismissal didn’t bother de Kock’s hitting plans, as he kept on scoring boundaries to lift the scoreboard. The South African opener is currently in good form, so his batting prowess proved vital for the Sunrisers team.

Quinton de Kock was finally dismissed in the 11th over when he tried to take on Delano Potgieter over deep midwicket. Unfortunately, he couldn’t clear the boundary as Miller took a good high catch. He went back to the pavilion after scoring 42 runs at a brilliant strike rate of 175.

For a moment, Paarl Royals came back into the game, but it all changed again with the arrival of Jordan Hermann. The rising South African youngster showcased his batting might against the undisciplined bowling attack of Paarl Royals. He struck all the bowlers furiously, giving Sunrisers a quick surge on the scoreboard.

The innings of Jordan Hermann against Paarl Royals was simply breathtaking, as he kept on hitting big sixes all over the park. He scored an unbeaten 62 runs off just 28 balls, hitting 5 fours and 4 sixes aggressively. Due to his powerful batting, Sunrisers Eastern Cape posted a big total of 186 at the end of the first innings.

Paarl Royals Batting Lineup Crumbles in Humiliating Defeat

The real havoc broke out when Paarl Royals came out to bat. They showcased a pathetic batting display from the start of the innings, as every batter kept returning to the pavilion by gifting their wickets to the Sunrisers bowlers. It was a sorry batting performance from the Royals team that only made matters worse for them.

Both Anrich Nortje and Adam Milne dominated the Royals batting order by picking quick wickets. Due to their combined attack, Paarl Royals were skittled to just 49 runs in the second innings of the match. This is now the lowest team total ever recorded in the history of the SA20 league. It was certainly a humiliation for the Royals that gave them an early lesson about how they need to charge up for the rest of the tournament.
