India Champions qualified for the semi-finals of the World Championship of Legends (WCL) 2025 match after defeating West Indies Champions by five wickets in a tense final league match at Grace Road.
Chasing a modest 145, India needed to not only win but do so within 14.1 overs to surpass England's Champions on net run rate. They nailed it in 13.2 overs with key contributions from Stuart Binny, who smashed a fiery 50 off 21 balls*, and cameo efforts from captain Yuvraj Singh and Yusuf Pathan. Kieron Pollard had earlier resurrected the Windies’ innings with a blistering 74 off 43*, but it ultimately proved insufficient.
The result confirmed India as the fourth team to reach the semis, where they are now set to meet Pakistan Champions on 31 July at Edgbaston.
India Champions will face Pakistan Champions in the semifinals at Edgbaston on 31 July. The fixture has stirred considerable attention, not least because India’s sponsor, EaseMyTrip, has withdrawn support, citing internal policies against associating with matches involving Pakistan.
The semi-final clash looms as one of the most politically charged and emotionally intense fixtures of the tournament—and certainly of the WCL’s fledgling 2025 edition.
