Hodge’s Blazing Hundred in T20 World Cup Opener Gives England Women 219 in First Innings

England Women posted a mammoth total of 219 in the first innings of the T20 World Cup opener at Birmingham. Danni Wyatt-Hodge remained the most notable batter, as she struck a blazing hundred off just 62 balls to set a big target for Sri Lanka Women.

Batting first, England started on a strong note, as they dominated the powerplay and first 10 overs without losing any wicket. The partnership between Amy Jones and Danni Wyatt-Hodge was remarkable, as both batters played confidently to set a platform for the big total.

Amy Jones then went back to the pavilion in the 14th over after scoring 53 off 38 balls. However, Hodge remained firm at the other end, striking at over 150 to put pressure on the Sri Lankan bowlers.

Due to her continuous onslaught, the home side finally scored 219 at the end of the first innings. Hodge went back to the pavilion with an unbeaten century, while Nat Sciver-Brunt scored 46 off 22 balls.

Sri Lanka will now look to chase down this target in the second innings, however, the odds are against them, as England have got all the momentum.
