Spain Confident of Handling France's Star-Studded Attack in Upcoming World Cup Semi-Final
Spain winger Alex Baena has shared how his team plans to deal with France's dangerous attack in the upcoming FIFA World Cup semi-final. He said Spain will try to keep possession, and push France onto the back foot to stay ahead in the contest.
Baena admitted Spain have great respect for one of the tournament favourites and their star-studded attack, which includes Kylian Mbappe, Michael Olise, Ousmane Dembele and Desire Doue. However, he made it clear that Spain will not sit back and defend in Tuesday's semi-final.
"The four up front are having a great tournament and we will have to keep an eye on them. But we will try to make them watch us more than we watch them," said Alex Baena while talking at the press conference.
"Our strength is having the ball, having a lot of possession to attack and to make sure they attack us as little as possible. Hopefully, tomorrow it will be like that too." added Alex Baena.
The strategy highlighted by Alex is similar to the one Spain used in their previous victories over France in the UEFA Euro and Nations League semi-finals.
Baena said Spain will stick to the same approach in Tuesday's semi-final. However, he added that past wins alone will not be enough to secure another victory.
"It is true that we come from two matches in which we beat them, and that suited us, but every match is a world of its own. They are having a spectacular tournament." said Spain winger Alex Baena.
The upcoming semi-final between France vs Spain is eagerly awaited by many fans. It is going to be a highly competitive contest, as both teams are stacked with quality players. France are currently considered the favorites to lift the trophy, but moving past Spain in the upcoming match won’t be an easy task for them.
