Spain Confident Over Yamal And Porro Fitness Despite Separate Training
Lamine Yamal and Pedro Porro trained away from the rest of Spain's squad on Thursday as the team continued its preparations for Sunday's World Cup final against Argentina.
The two players were seen lying on the pitch during the opening part of the training session at one of Spain's training facilities in New York.
The Spanish football federation said both players are expected to feature in the final. It added that their separate training was only a precaution to help manage their workload.
After Spain's semi-final win over France, De la Fuente revealed that Porro had been playing with a strain. Some reports later claimed that the full-back had suffered a hamstring strain, but the injury is not believed to be serious.
Yamal's issue seems to be less concerning. De la Fuente said the teenager had nothing after the semi-final, but the effects of his physical battles with Lucas Digne and Theo Hernandez were clear the next day. The young forward was dealing with some aches and bruises after a tough game.
Spain's priority now is to make sure Yamal, Porro and the rest of the team are ready and fully fit for the upcoming FIFA World Cup final.
The rest of the squad completed the 15-minute session that was open to the media without any problems. The players looked relaxed and in a good mood despite the hot and humid conditions in New York, with temperatures close to 30 degrees Celsius.
Considering the final is fast approaching on Sunday, Spain will have three days to adapt to these unusual conditions before playing only their second outdoor game of the tournament.
