Stubbs Match-Winning Knock Helps Southern Brave Defeat Rockets in The Hundred 2026

Trent Rockets’ place in the Hundred final is still not confirmed after Southern Brave defeated them by six wickets in the latest clash at Nottingham.

Batting first, the Rockets posted 158-7, but their total was not enough to stop Brave. Tristan Stubbs led the chase with an unbeaten fifty, helping the hosts get over the line with three balls remaining despite having already been knocked out of the competition.

Sunrisers Leeds still have a chance to finish above Trent Rockets in the table. They are currently four points behind the Rockets and can move to the top if they beat Manchester Super Giants at Old Trafford on Tuesday.

If both teams end up with 24 points, net run-rate will decide who finishes higher. Sunrisers Leeds currently have the better rate at 1.094, compared to 0.740 for Trent Rockets.

Tristan Stubbs and Marcus Stoinis played key roles in Southern Brave’s chase, putting on 70 runs for the fourth wicket.

Stoinis hit four fours and three sixes during his 25-ball 46. His innings ended in the penultimate set when he mistimed a full toss from Ben Sanderson and was caught at mid-on.

Brave still needed eight runs from the last five balls, with Lewis Gregory bowling the final set. Stubbs took this opportunity and ended the game in style, hitting Gregory for a six over square leg. He remained unbeaten on 52 from 28 balls, with four fours and three sixes, and finished with a strike rate of 185.71.

Earlier in the first innings, Trent Rockets put up a decent total after several of their top-order batters made useful contributions.

Mitchell Santner was their leading scorer, finishing unbeaten on 35 from 23 balls. He added 66 runs for the sixth wicket with Lewis Gregory, who stayed not out on 28 from 18 deliveries.

Unfortunately, their efforts remained a little short, as Stubbs special handed the Brave a consolation win. The result of this match has made the Hundred points table very interesting, as the top position is still up for grabs, with Sunrisers and Rockets being the main contenders.
