South Africa:

For the T20Is, Aiden Markram will be at the helm, hoping to bring in fresh names like Dewald Brevis and Lhuan‑dre Pretorius, and for the ODIs, Temba Bavuma will undertake captaincy responsibilities, with nearly a full-strength team as per the momentum of their WTC victory.

Match Highlights & Momentum

Now, in the first T20I, Australia won over South Africa by 17 runs. Tim David's 83-run cameo saved them from 75/6. 4/20 by Kwena Maphaka was some effort for ZA.

Dewald Brevis put on quite a show with his 125* off 56 balls, which took South Africa to 218/7, their highest T20 score vs Australia. SA won by 53 runs, levelling the series at the 2nd T20I.

The three-match ODI series comes after the T20S, with South Africa aiming to shift their World Test Championship success to white-ball cricket.

Series Significance

The Proteas will likely aim to maintain their current momentum with white-ball cricket, especially their success at the WTC Final at Lord's. For now,  Australia has shifted focus to rigorous planning. It's a T20 plan in the form of aggressive batting combinations and new opening pair combinations. We can look at this tour for the build-up to the 2026 T20 World Cup. SA's inclusion of new talent and Brevis's record T20 score make the tour a build-up to introduce emerging stars.

Series at a Glance

The tour is scheduled to take place between 10 - 24 August 2025. It will be a standard 3 x T20Is and 3 x ODIs format. Some of the major performers to watch out for include Mitchell Marsh (Aus), Aiden Markram (T20 SA), and Temba Bavuma (ODI SA). One of the biggest highlights of the match was Tim David's rescue (1st T20I); Brevis's 125* (2nd T20I). To live stream the series you can rely on any one of the following platforms depending on your location: Foxtel & Kayo, SuperSport, JioHotstar, tapmad, Willow, TNT Sports, or Sky channels. A series much anticipated, where they are mixing World Cup preparation with white-ball cricket, which serves to bring out the new players.
