The strong batting display of South Africa in the 2nd T20I against India resulted in a challenging target of 214 runs for the hosts. After the fiery 90th knock by Quinton de Kock, South Africa finished their first innings with a score of 213/4 in 20 overs. Despite losing wickets in the early stages of the game, some vital performances by Donovan Ferreira and David Miller were able to take the total to a competitive one, and India had a hard job ahead.
South Africa started the innings strongly, and Quinton de Kock assumed the lead right at the start. His knock of 90, which included five boundaries and seven sixes, anchored a big total for South Africa.
South Africa lost early wickets, although it started well as Varun Chakravarthy dismissed Reeza Hendricks, and captain Aiden Markram was dismissed by Axar Patel by 29. The wickets gave India some hope as they attempted to keep the score in check.
The late rally from Donovan Ferreira and David Miller took South Africa to 213/4. Ferreira was unbeaten on 30 at 16 with one four and three sixes, and Miller contributed 20 runs from 12 balls.
Arshdeep Singh gave 54 runs and Jasprit Bumrah conceded 45 runs in his 4 overs. Varun Chakravarthy took 2 wickets for 29 runs, while Patel’s figures read 1 for 27 in 3 overs.
After setting the target of 214, South Africa’s bowlers will need to take early wickets to put pressure on India’s chase.
