Vishmi Gunaratne remained the key player for Sri Lanka, as she tried to put up a fight single-handedly. Unfortunately, her efforts could not make much difference for the home team, as they managed to score only 105 at the end of the 1st innings.
Due to the DLS method, South Africa was given a target of 125 runs in the 2nd innings. Earlier, fans were expecting that Sri Lanka would make this chase difficult for the visitors. However, the commanding batting display by Laura Wolvaardt completely changed the face of the match.
The South African captain started attacking in the Powerplay. She knew about the weather situation prevailing around. Keeping that in mind, both Laura Wolvaardt and Tazmin Brits played aggressively to complete the chase. They took down the Sri Lankan bowlers smartly, by hitting consistent boundaries through gaps.
South African batters made things worse for Sri Lanka, as they forgot their line and length while trying to protect a very low score on the board.
