Molineux Eyes Comeback But Role with Bat and Ball Remain Uncertain

Sophie Molineux is excited to captain Australia Women in the upcoming West Indies series, as the team is looking forward to her strong batting performances. Due to the recent lower-back injury, she won’t be pushing herself to take the ball, as the team’s medical panel has advised her to move ahead cautiously.

"It's probably a see how we go. Especially towards the back end with the one-dayers. We'll just keep assessing. I am looking forward to being back out there with the girls.” said Sophie Molineux while talking to the reporters.

"It was hard to watch that Test, especially not being part of Midge [Healy]'s last game for Australia. It will be great to get back out there again." added Sophie Molineux.

Talking about the upcoming Australia Women vs West Indies Women series, she said that every match is important for the team, as it will help them to prepare their plans for the T20 World Cup 2026.

"It's an important series for all of us. We haven't got a whole lot of games before that T20 World Cup. Each game we have together is really important and make sure we are building towards that. To be able to get my feet under the desk and lead the group, I am really looking forward to the opportunity." said Sophie Molineux.

She further said that the upcoming series will be a good test for the Australian team to analyze their strengths and weaknesses ahead of the mega event. Keeping that in view, they are looking forward to delivering a strong performance against WI, which is a very challenging side.

"I think it's going to be a good test of where we are as a team right now just a couple months before the World Cup does start.” said Sophie Molineux.

“They're quite a challenging team and the highest ranked in the world, but teams have had success against them. The good thing about T20 cricket is that it only takes one or two match winners to really go there and change a game.” concluded Sophie Molineux.
