The Green Shirts’ openers combined brilliantly in the mandatory first six overs. Sahibzada Farhan anchored the innings with five boundaries and two sixes, while Fakhar Zaman lit up the field with three fours and a six. Pakistan reached 50 runs in just 28 balls, with minimal extras, showing intent to dominate Sri Lanka from the outset.
The powerplay ended at 64/0, a fantastic start with a run rate of 10.66. With both batters striking freely, Pakistan look set to build on this platform and challenge the Lankans throughout the innings.
Sri Lanka’s attack could not break the opening partnership. Dilshan Madushanka conceded 17 runs in 2 overs, while Dushmantha Chameera went for 22. Maheesh Theekshana and Dasun Shanaka were both expensive in their single overs. The Lankans must regroup quickly if they want to stop Pakistan from going long.
