KARACHI: The Sindh government announced that more than 22 large sports events will be held in the province, starting in the last week of October and concluding in June 2026. The intention is to popularise sports and encourage more youth to join.
This was decided in a high-level conference headed by Sindh Minister of Sports and Youth Affairs Sardar Muhammad Bux Mahar. Present were Sports Secretary Munawar Ali Mahesar, Chief Engineer Aslam Mahar and those of Sindh Olympic Association, such as Ahmed Ali Rajput, Asghar Baloch and Ali Dino Gopang.
The meeting also discussed the existing arrangements for the 35th National Games, Sindh Games 2026, and other significant sports events, such as the Thar Jeep Rally and district-level tournaments across the province.
Speaking after the meeting, Sardar Mahar shared details about the upcoming sports calendar, calling it a “milestone year” for youth and athletes in Sindh.
He stated that the Sindh government will host the Sindh e-sports championship in Karachi in the coming month, the first time in Sindh's history. The event will attract young gamers throughout Pakistan and will usher in a new dimension of digital sports in the province.
Under the theme “Hoslay Kamal Ke” (Spirit of Excellence), the Sindh Special Games will take place in November, showcasing the talent of athletes with disabilities from every corner of the province.
Also, the Youth Science and Technology Expo 2025 will be organised in Karachi in the 2nd half of November. It will feature students, innovators, and other technology experts, and the Taekwondo, Karate, and Table Tennis tournaments will also be held in the South district of Karachi in the latter part of this month.
In November, Thatta will host the Kohistan Bull Cart Race. The “Jazba Junoon” Futsal Championship will begin in early November in Karachi, where young football players across Sindh will gather.
Sardar Mahar announced that Ghotki will be the host of the 19th Sindh Games in 2026 and the much-awaited Thar Jeep Rally in January. He also said that the events will boost sports, tourism, and the regional economy.
Another issue discussed by Mahar was innovation and youth input. According to him, the Youth Science and Technology Festival will gather university students, experts in the industry and innovators. Their projects can be exhibited at the festival, and they can work on real-world projects with the help of industry leaders.
“The Sindh government is fully committed to providing positive opportunities for the youth,” he emphasized. “Engaging them through sports, technology, and community events is our top priority.
