Bangladesh captain Najmul Hossain Shanto is backing his team to do well against Pakistan in the upcoming test series. He believes the pace attack of Bangladesh will play a major role in the series, as players like Nahid Rana and Shoriful Islam are currently in great form.
Shanto also claimed that Bangladesh’s current pace attack is slightly ahead of Pakistan’ bowling lineup, which is why they are confident to perform strongly in the series.
"Pakistan's pace bowling is traditionally very strong; there is no doubt about that. However, considering how our pacers have performed over the last few years, I would say our pace attack is perhaps slightly ahead," said Najmul Hossain Shanto while talking to the reporters.
The Bangladesh captain supported his point by saying his fast bowlers have improved a lot in recent times. He also urged the batters to step up and put a strong score on the board, as that will help them to put pressure on Pakistan.
"Our pacers have improved immensely in terms of skill, which gives me an extra cushion as a captain. I personally want the batters to take up the challenge of putting up a big first-innings total. A proper combination of pace and spin will be key to our success." said Bangladesh captain Najmul Hossain Shanto.
Shanto then praised the young Nahid Rana who is currently making waves in international cricket. Capable of hitting speeds up to 150 kph, Nahid is undoubtedly the trump card for Bangladesh in the upcoming series. Shanto backed the youngster to perform well in the first test, as his recent outings in international cricket have been very impressive.
"I have known Rana since his early days, and I am aware of his work ethic. For a captain, having a genuine tear away in the side is always a massive plus. He is in great rhythm, and I expect him to hit his peak in this series," said Najmul Hossain Shanto.
