Pakistan test captain Shan Masood has set his sights on winning the upcoming test series against Bangladesh. He is backing his team to perform well, as they have the potential to dominate the Tigers on their home turf. Shan himself wants to score big in the upcoming matches, as he knows the importance of his role in the team.
Speaking at the pre-match press conference, Shan Masood said that his team will come to the ground with a fresh mindset. With this reply, he refuted the perception that Pakistan team is looking for some kind of revenge against Bangladesh for the 2024 defeat.
"I do not think our side associates itself with any word related to revenge. We must give credit to Bangladesh for the way they prepared and performed in 2024. We thought we would have the better of them in those conditions, but they played really good cricket," said Shan Masood while talking to the reporters.
"The way they fought back from situations where we were on top, like when they were 26 for six, showed their skill and ability. We are not going to take any opposition lightly. ” added Shan Masood.
“For us, what matters is our process and ensuring that when we get into winning positions, we finish games off and play a good brand of cricket." added Shan Masood.
It should be noted that the series against Bangladesh will be Pakistan’s first Test assignment in six months. Shan Masood is confident that the green shirts have a balanced squad which is capable of playing well in different conditions.
"They have their own strengths, and we have our own strengths. We can only judge ourselves from our own point of view. I think we have brought a very well-rounded squad of 16 players that can play in most conditions," said Shan Masood.
"We are very happy with the squad we have, and now it is about playing 10 days of good cricket. Hopefully, whoever plays better cricket will end up winning the series," added Shan Masood.
Talking about the pitch condition, Shan said that it looks like a green top, but that is not a problem for Pakistan because they are used to playing on such surfaces.
"The pitch currently has grass on it, and that will likely be its condition tomorrow. We have played in various conditions over the last two years, including Australia and South Africa. Even when Bangladesh came to Pakistan, we prepared similar wickets. We built our 16-man squad to be balanced, with options for both seam and spin conditions," concluded Shan Masood.
