KARACHI: Pakistan all-rounder Shadab Khan has been named in the Desert Vipers squad for the third edition of the Global Super League (GSL), scheduled to run from July 23 to August 1 in Guyana. The tournament will be played entirely at the Providence Stadium and will feature five teams competing in 11 matches.
The Desert Vipers have assembled a multi-national squad featuring several established franchise cricketers. New Zealand’s Daryl Mitchell and USA batter Andries Gous are among the key top-order options, while the side will be led by Chris Green, who also features as an all-rounder.
Shadab joins the all-rounders’ group alongside Khuzaima Bin Tanveer and Chris Green, adding depth to both the spin and lower-order batting units. The squad also includes players such as Jason Behrendorff, Kyle Mayers and Bevon Jacobs, forming a balanced mix of pace, spin and power-hitting options.
Shadab continues his extensive franchise career, having previously featured in multiple leagues including the Bangladesh Premier League, Lanka Premier League, ILT20, The Hundred, Major League Cricket, Big Bash League and Caribbean Premier League.
He remains a central figure in Islamabad United history in the Pakistan Super League (PSL), where he led the team to a title in the ninth edition. Across 69 matches as captain, he has recorded 40 wins with a win percentage of 57.97.
In the PSL overall, Shadab has scored 1,486 runs at a strike rate of 142.20 and taken 112 wickets, making him the third-highest wicket-taker in the tournament’s history.
