Injured Batsman Saim Ayub Will Likely Be A Part Of Pakistan’s Preliminary Squad for CT25

With just a month left in the commencement of the mega ICC Champions Trophy 2025, the deadline for announcing the preliminary squads is also almost here.

The ICC has asked all eight teams to submit a preliminary squad list by 11:59 PM on 11th January.

The Pakistan team selection committee is considering including opening batsman Saim Ayub in the initial player list.

Youngster Saim acquired a right ankle fracture while fielding during the PAK vs SA 2nd test and had to retire hurt from the match. This unprecedented injury has ruled him out of cricket for the next 6 weeks.

The Pakistan Cricket Board has sent Saim to London to receive immediate treatment for his injury.

Saim was at the peak of his form right before he got hurt so the selectors really want him to be a part of the Pakistan squad.

However, if the youngster is unable to achieve full fitness before February 19th then the tournament’s technical committee will find his replacement.

It is worthy noting that teams can make changes to their squads without ICC approval until February 11, from February 12 onwards, any changes will require approval from the technical committee.
