New Zealand were asked to bat first in the 4th T20I, and produced a dominant batting performance, finishing with a total of 215/7 in 20 overs. Devon Conway and Tim Seifert provided New Zealand with a strong start. The pair added 71 runs during the powerplay without losing a wicket. Seifert scored a stunning knock of 62 in 36 balls, and Conway made 44 in 23.
In the late overs, Daryl Mitchell led the innings with 39 off 18 balls. Contributions from Glenn Phillips and Zak Foulkes proved useful, as New Zealand kept the run rate at a minimum of ten. Kuldeep Yadav and Arshdeep Singh both took two wickets each.
Chasing 216, India immediately suffered a blow as Abhishek Sharma was dismissed on the first ball. Rinku Singh tried to stabilize the innings with 39 in 30 balls. Later, Shivam changed the game by a thrilling 65 in 23 balls, and struck seven sixes.
The dismissal of Dube shifted momentum in New Zealand’s favour, and India were bowled out in 18.4 overs for 165. Mitchell Santner took 3 wickets for 26 runs. Ish Sodhi and Jacob Duffy took 2 wickets apiece.
Seifert was awarded the Player of the Match for his impactful performance. India led the five-match series 3-1 in spite of the loss.
