Pakistan made a resounding start to the ACC Men’s T20 Asia Cup 2025 campaign by beating Oman with a big margin of 93 runs. However, Salman Ali Agha insisted that there was still room for improvement in the batting department. He was particularly happy with the bowling performance of the team, as the attack led by Shaheen Shah Afridi made the mark by rolling over Oman for just 67 runs.
Batting first, the Pakistan team looked very shaky. Saim Ayub got out on the golden duck, once again showcasing how fragile Pakistan’s opening pair is. The green team, however, strengthened its feet in the middle overs, and put on a formidable score on the board at the end of this innings.
However, Salman Ali Agha stressed that the goal was to score 180, and they would try to bring improvement in the batting in next matches.
The Pakistan captain was particularly happy with the performance of the bowling unit. He described that having a sufficient number of spin bowling options is key here in the UAE.
“We have three spinners, and all are very different. We have Saim as well, he is outstanding with the new and old ball. When you come to the UAE, you need to have a lot of spinners.” Salman Ali Agha said at the post-match presentation.
Pakistan will now take on India on Sunday in a high-profile clash. Both teams are equally geared up with tremendous batting and bowling resources. It would be Salman’s first match against India as Pakistan captain, hence he would be definitely hoping to win the game and take his team to the top of the table.
