Agha’s Shock Opening Over Leaves India Tottering in Colombo
In today's ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026 match at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo, Pakistan captain Salman Ali Agha delivered a masterful and historic opening over. After winning the toss and electing to field on a "tacky" surface, Agha surprised everyone by opening the bowling with his off-spin, only the second time he has done so in T20Is.
The over began with Ishan Kishan defending a short-of-length delivery before tucking the second ball for a single to get India off the mark. Returning opener Abhishek Sharma then faced four consecutive dots, struggling with the low bounce and lack of pace.
On the final delivery, attempting to break the shackles, Abhishek miscued a chip toward mid-wicket, where Shaheen Shah Afridi took a simple catch. Abhishek departed for a 4-ball duck, giving Pakistan a dream start and leaving India at 1/1 after the first over.
