Salman Ali Agha has emphasized the importance of upholding the spirit of cricket in the upcoming India vs Pakistan clash. He believes the game should not produce any controversies, and should display proper sportsmanship between the two teams.
"The game should be played in that spirit of cricket. What I expect doesn't matter. But I do feel the game should be played in the way it has been played since cricket started. Rest is up to them [India], whatever they want to do." said Pakistan T20I captain, Salman Ali Agha.
When asked to define the magnitude of the game, Agha said that India vs Pakistan matches are always high-pressure games. Keeping that in view, he expects the upcoming encounter to live up to the same expectations.
"Bilkul [definitely], this game, its magnitude has always been bigger and will continue to be bigger. Tomorrow, too, the magnitude of the game will be bigger." said Salman Ali Agha at the pre-match press conference.
Speaking about the previous defeats against India in the major events, Agha acknowledged that Pakistan does not have a good record against India, but that does not mean the result would always remain the same.
"We don't have a good record against them in World Cups. But each time you play a new match, it is a new day and you have to play good cricket to win. You can't change history, but you can learn from it. And we have learned things and we will try and put up a good performance and win." said Salman Ali Agha.
Agha then dismissed the perspective that Pakistan has an advantage in the ICC T20 World Cup 2026 due to playing all its matches in Colombo. He said the team still needs to perform well on the ground to secure victory.
"We are based in Colombo and playing all our matches here, but I don't know how that is an advantage. On the ground, you have to play good cricket, you will need to execute plans otherwise you can't win. Just because you are based here that doesn't mean you will win the match." concluded Salman Ali Agha.
