Sharjah: Pakistan put on a batting show to remember as Saim Ayub and Hasan Nawaz’s explosive knocks helped the Green Shirts post 207 runs in 20 overs against the UAE in the second clash of the tri-series at the iconic Sharjah Cricket Stadium on Saturday. Fans can catch all the live action on tapmad.

Pakistan, after winning the toss and electing to bat first, lost Sahibzada Farhan early. The opener managed just 8 runs before being bowled by Junaid Siddique in the very first over. Fakhar Zaman followed soon after, falling to Haider Ali for just 6, leaving Pakistan in early trouble at 38/2 in 3.1 overs.

Down went the wickets, and Saim Ayub assumed control. The left-hander batted with confidence, and with 38 balls, he scored 69 runs, including seven fours and four sixes. He scored the fourth of his T20I half-century on just 25 balls and patched a much-needed rescue for his team. His genius innings came to a halt in the 12th over, when he was caught behind. Pakistan lost 104/4 in 11.3 overs.

That thrust was, however, propelled by Hasan Nawaz, who lit up Sharjah with a display of power-hitting of breathtaking nature. He struck three sixes in a row in a single over and dashed to a half-century on 24 balls. Hasan later departed after a blazing 56 on 26 balls with six sixes and two fours, breaking the 160 run mark in style.

The bowlers in the UAE attempted to maintain the pressure with frequent breakthroughs. Skipper Salman Ali Agha was thrown away at a cheap rate of 5, and Mohammad Haris (1) and Mohammad Nawaz (25 off 15) failed to cash in on their starts. Nevertheless, the Green Shirts pressed the attack home, to 207 all out on the last ball of the 20th over.

In the case of the UAE, Saghir Khan and Junaid Siddique were the bowlers of choice with three and two wickets respectively, and Haider Ali contributed with two vital wickets.

The innings of Pakistan had its moments, and the brash batting of Saim Ayub and Hasan Nawaz secured them a final score on the board which was impressive, and which gave the second innings at Sharjah all the excitement.
