Sahibzada Farhan Stands Firm On Aggressive Approach Ahead Of Sri Lanka T20I Series
Pakistan T20I captain Sahibzada Farhan has urged the top-order batters to play attacking cricket ahead of the three-match T20I series against Sri Lanka. He also stressed the need for the team to have the right mindset for the shortest format of the game that always remains unpredictable.
Speaking at the pre-series press conference in Rawalpindi, Farhan said Pakistan’s top-order players should look to play their shots and keep the pressure on the opposition. The captain also made it clear that he prefers a positive and attacking style of cricket over defensive play.
“I want the top order to bat according to the T20 mindset. Pakistan’s top-order batters play aggressively, just as I do,” said Sahibzada Farhan while talking to the reporters.
When asked about the combination, Farhan said the team has a blend of young and experienced players, something that will help him a lot as captain on the field.
“There is a combination of young and senior players in the squad, and the presence of experienced players will help me as captain,” said Pakistan T20I captain Sahibzada Farhan.
Addressing the question of pitches, Farhan said the conditions at Rawalpindi would be batting friendly, so he is expecting big scores in the upcoming T20I matches.
“We will get batting-friendly conditions in Pakistan. We will play with two spinners and three fast bowlers,” said Sahibzada Farhan.
Talking about captaincy, Farhan admitted that the position brings a certain amount of pressure, however, he is well aware of its challenges, as he has previously captained many sides in domestic cricket.
“There is definitely pressure that comes with captaincy, but there are no small or big teams in international cricket. Even against teams considered weaker, there is pressure because international cricket is never easy,” said Sahibzada Farhan.
Farhan also stressed the need to make the most of the upcoming matches, as Pakistan do not have many T20I games lined up after this series. He urged the players to take advantage of this opportunity and perform well, so that they can stay in the team’s T20 plans.
“The number of T20 matches after this series is limited, so these games will be important for us,” said Sahibzada Farhan.
Speaking about the captaincy, Sahibzada Farhan stressed that he just wants to enjoy the role without taking too much pressure, as that could help him produce better results.
“I am not thinking about whether I will get the captaincy in the future or not. As long as I am captain, I want to help Pakistan win matches in different ways,” said Sahibzada Farhan.
