SA vs NZ 1st Semi-Final: NZ Won by 9 Wickets with 7.5 Overs to Spare as Allen Hit a Sensational Century

South Africa had posted 169/8 in their 20 overs, setting New Zealand a target of 170 runs. In reply, the Black Caps finished on 173/1 in just 12.5 overs, winning by 9 wickets with 7.5 overs remaining.

Allen’s Spectacular Century

Chasing 170, New Zealand’s openers began in command. Tim Seifert provided an excellent start, scoring 58 off 33 balls with 7 fours and 2 sixes. But it was Finn Allen’s 100 who truly etched his name in T20 history. Allen hammered a breathtaking 100 not out off just 33 deliveries, including 10 fours and 8 sixes. His performance is one of the most destructive innings ever seen in T20 World Cup history, which completely dismantled South Africa’s bowling attack.

Allen’s innings ensured New Zealand maintained pressure throughout, never allowing the Proteas to plant a foothold in the run chase. Tim Seifert supported Allen with a fabulous 58 off 33 balls.

South Africa’s Total and Bowling Response

Earlier in the day, South Africa posted a competitive 169/8 in their 20 overs. Despite losing early wickets, Marco Jansen and Tristan Stubbs offered resistance, but it was nothing compared to the onslaught that awaited them in the chase.

South Africa’s bowlers found it difficult to curb the run flow. Marco Jansen (55 off 30) was the most expensive, conceding 53 runs in 2.5 overs. Kagiso Rabada finished with figures of 1/28, while Lungi Ngidi and Corbin Bosch leaked runs at crucial stages. Keshav Maharaj also struggled to harness the momentum, giving away 33 runs in his 3 overs.

Black Caps Into The Final

With this emphatic win in the SA vs NZ 1st Semi-Final, New Zealand secured their place in the T20 World Cup 2026 Final. Their opponent will be the winner of the other semi‑final clash between India and England, setting the stage for a thrilling summit clash.
