Proteas Target Series Whitewash as West Indies Face "Pink Day" Challenge

Proteas Target Series Whitewash as West Indies Face "Pink Day" Challenge

Johannesburg’s Wanderers Stadium is awash in pink as South Africa aim to complete a 3-0 series sweep over West Indies in the final T20I before the World Cup. This Pink Day T20I is to raise breast cancer awareness.

Aiden Markram, continuing his perfect toss record, chose to chase for the third consecutive match, citing a slightly dry pitch and the threat of passing showers. South Africa hopes this strategy keeps their momentum going in the South Africa vs West Indies series.

Both sides made three changes to manage workloads. South Africa rested pacers Marco Jansen, Anrich Nortje, and Kagiso Rabada, bringing in George Linde, Corbin Bosch, and Lungi Ngidi, who returns after the SA20 final despite leg strapping. Spin duo Linde and Keshav Maharaj were retained to strengthen the attack.

West Indies rested Brandon King, Sherfane Rutherford, and Jayden Seales, bringing in Johnson Charles, Gudakesh Motie, and pacer Shamar Joseph, who gets his first chance in the South Africa vs West Indies series.
