Kohli Batting Masterclass Gives RCB Dominant Victory Over Gujarat Titans

Royal Challengers Bengaluru defeated Gujarat Titans in the latest IPL clash, as Virat Kohli showcased his vintage batting masterclass to chase a big total. His superlative knock of 81 stunned the Gujarat Titans, giving RCB a thrilling victory by 5 wickets.

Batting first, Gujarat Titans got off to a great start, as both Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan played confidently to take the scoreboard forward. The innings of Sai Sudharsan was especially impressive, as he took the lead in hitting boundaries to put pressure on RCB.

After building a strong opening partnership, Shubman Gill was dismissed by Suyash Sharma in the 13th over. His wicket brought Jos Buttler to the crease, who also played confidently alongside Sai Sudharsan to take the momentum forward.

The duo looked in good touch, however, Hazlewood finally made the breakthrough in the 16th over by dismissing the dominant Sai Sudharsan. He went back to the pavilion after scoring a brilliant century, hitting 11 fours and 5 sixes in total.

The middle order then finished the innings strongly, giving Gujarat Titans a solid score of 205 on the board. From the bowling perspective, Bhuvneshwar Kumar remained the most notable bowler for RCB by taking a wicket and conceding just 31 runs in four overs.

When RCB came out to chase the target, they lost Jacob Bethell early in the Powerplay. This brought some pressure on RCB, however, the class of Virat Kohli got them back on track. The superstar Indian batter launched a stunning counterattack which put the pressure back on the Titans. He was well supported by Devdutt Padikkal at the other end, who also looked positive from the start.

Virat Kohli showcased his vintage chasing masterclass in today’s game, as Gujarat Titans had no answers for his brilliance. He scored 81 off just 44 balls before Jason Holder dismissed him in the 14th over. Fortunately, the innings of Virat Kohli gave RCB a perfect platform to hunt down the target, and they took full advantage of that.

After a brief stutter, the middle order of the RCB completed the chase in the second last over for the loss of 5 wickets. By winning the match, Royal Challengers Bengaluru have now secured second position on the IPL 2026 points table.
