Ros Rivaz Appointed as Independent Director to ICC Board
The International Cricket Council (ICC) has expanded its leadership team with the appointment of Dr Ros C Rivaz as an ICC Independent Director, adding another non-executive voice to the governing body's board.
Dr Ros Rivaz appointed as Independent Director on an initial three-year term, with the possibility of a further extension of up to three years. Her appointment comes as the ICC continues to strengthen its governance framework and broaden the range of expertise represented at board level.
Rivaz brings extensive boardroom experience from both the public and private sectors. She currently serves as chair of Anglian Water and also holds independent leadership roles at European materials science companies Aperam SA and Victrex plc. Her professional background includes senior executive and advisory positions focused on corporate strategy, operational oversight, and organisational performance.
The ICC said Rivaz's experience across multiple industries would add valuable perspective to the board's decision-making process. The governing body also highlighted her work in governance, stakeholder engagement, and inclusion initiatives during her career.
Beyond the corporate sector, Rivaz has been involved in educational and community programmes. Her work has included supporting STEM participation among young women, serving in higher education leadership positions, and contributing to charitable projects.
Commenting on her appointment as ICC Independent Director, Rivaz said: "It is a privilege to join the ICC Board at such an exciting time for the sport.
"Cricket continues to reach new audiences, inspire communities and strengthen its position as one of the world's most influential global sports.
"I look forward to working alongside the ICC Chairman, fellow Board members, and the wider cricket family to support the continued growth of the game. Strong governance, long-term thinking and an inclusive approach to decision-making will be central to ensuring cricket continues to thrive and create opportunities for future generations across all parts of the world."
The role of independent directors was introduced as part of wider governance reforms implemented by the ICC in recent years. The position was first held by former PepsiCo chair and chief executive Indra Nooyi, who became the organisation's first independent female director in 2018.
With Ros Rivaz joining the board, the ICC adds another independent figure from outside cricket administration as it continues efforts to strengthen governance and strategic oversight across the global game.
