Ronaldo Returns As a Global Ambassador Of Esports World Cup 2026

Ronaldo Returns As a Global Ambassador Of Esports World Cup 2026

The Esports World Cup 2026 will once again feature Ronaldo as a global Ambassador of Esports. Organisers have confirmed that Cristiano Ronaldo has extended his association with the tournament after serving in the same role during the previous edition.

Having one of the world's most followed athletes attached to the tournament is expected to help broaden its audience beyond traditional esports fans through promotional campaigns before and during the event.

Ronaldo's connection with the Esports World Cup has developed over several years rather than beginning with his ambassadorial appointment. He took part in the event's global launch in 2023, and was appointed as the tournament's official ambassador in 2025. His presence for the 2026 edition continues that partnership.

The decision also reflects Ronaldo's established presence in gaming. The Portuguese forward has collaborated with several major gaming franchises, including Free Fire, EA Sports and Konami, while he also appeared as a playable character in FATAL FURY: City of the Wolves during last year's Esports World Cup. No additional in-game collaborations have been confirmed for the upcoming tournament.

Tournament officials have previously explained the thinking behind the appointment. In an interview with The Esports Radar, Mohammad Al Nimer, Chief Commercial Officer of the Esports Foundation, said Ronaldo was identified as the preferred ambassador because of his worldwide appeal, competitive mindset and long-standing involvement with gaming.

The tournament first hinted at Ronaldo's return through its official social media platforms before confirming the announcement. His continued involvement gives the Esports World Cup one of sport's most recognisable figures as organisers build momentum for the 2026 event.
