Walter Confident in New Zealand’s Ability to Tackle Challenges Ahead of England Clash

New Zealand head coach believes his team has the ability to take on different types of challenges in the ICC T20 World Cup 2026. He said the Kiwis have a unique skill to make quick decisions, which allows them to negate the plans of the opposing teams effectively.

"I think if you look historically at the Black Caps, you would probably say that they're a team that have been great problem solvers, they are street smart, they find a way to understand the conditions quickly," said New Zealand head coach, Rob Walter.

He added that the team prides itself on this particular ability while playing in major tournaments. It allows them to assess each condition separately so that dynamic plans can be devised to counter them.

"It's certainly something that we pride ourselves on. And when you are in the subcontinent and there's different soil types on the same block, you are faced with different conditions all the time.” said Rob Walter while talking to the reporters.

“And that's the beauty of the game of cricket, isn't it? It's like nothing's ever the same. And so we want to keep being a side that responds quickly." added Rob Walter.

Speaking about how New Zealand is approaching the next game against England, Rob Walter said that the team has clear plans to win the match and reach the semi-finals, as they do not want to leave anything to external factors.

"We've sort of tried to place an emphasis on every game. I think that's probably a cliché that all teams use. It's not doom, we're not dead if we don't win, but certainly we leave it up to external factors then, and out of our own hands.” said Rob Walter.

“So we certainly don't want to be in that position. But it's really taking care of the ball-by-ball process, and hopefully that takes care of the result." concluded Rob Walter.
