Rinku Singh Leaves T20 World Cup Camp Amid Family Emergency

Rinku Singh Leaves T20 World Cup Camp Amid Family Emergency

The Rinku Singh family emergency has forced the middle-order batter to step away from the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026 at a tense moment in India’s campaign. His father, battling stage-4 liver cancer, remains on ventilator support. Team sources confirmed he departed on Feb. 24 after urgent calls from home.

Training went ahead, but his absence was hard to miss. Hardik Pandya and the rest pushed through drills, yet the finishing role now looks uncertain.

India sit under pressure after a heavy loss to South Africa. Their net run rate has dropped deep into the negative, leaving them with little margin for error. They now need back-to-back wins, and their chances of reaching the semi-finals will also depend on the results of West Indies, South Africa, and Zimbabwe.

Whether Rinku Singh returns remains unclear. For now, family comes first. The camp carries on, but the balance feels different.
