Real Madrid walked into Tuesday wanting a simple answer. Instead, they walked out with fresh worry. Kylian Mbappe missed the final training session before the Champions League clash with Manchester City, and the quiet around the pitch told its own story.

Club sources say Mbappe has been dealing with a muscular issue since the tense loss against Celta Vigo on Sunday. He stayed on for the full ninety, pushed through the pain, and somehow kept going even after picking up a fractured finger. That alone showed how much he wanted to finish the job. But his status now hangs in the air, and the timing could not be worse for Madrid.

Madrid’s Form Clouds the Picture

Madrid entered the City clash on the back of a 2–0 defeat to Celta Vigo at home, a result that left supporters wondering where the spark has gone. One quick look at the recent run explains the unease. One league win in five, there seems to be no rhythm at the moment. And without Mbappe, their problems suddenly feel heavier.

You could see the disappointment written on his face after that Celta match. He tried to shake off the injury, yet the strain refused to fade. Tests scheduled for Tuesday will decide whether he can feature against City, but inside the club, the mood is jittery.

Alonso Under Fresh Pressure

The pressure does not stop with the squad. Reports suggest senior figures are evaluating Xabi Alonso’s position. The City fixture may play a decisive role. That is not the kind of backdrop any manager wants before walking into a European night, yet Madrid have lived through chaotic stretches before. This one feels particularly sharp.

Mbappe’s influence this season is obvious. Sixteen league goals, nine in Europe. Only six matches without scoring. And here comes the striking detail that has rattled the fanbase: Madrid have won just two of those six scoreless outings.

In their last four matches, Madrid have not scored a goal that didn’t involve their No.10 in some way. He creates, he finishes, he lifts the stands with a single run. When the scoreboard flatlines, the crowd’s gasp says it all.

Injury List Adds More Weight

Their back line is already stretched thin. Éder Militão, David Alaba, Dean Huijsen, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Dani Carvajal, and Ferland Mendy are all out. Eduardo Camavinga is also missing. The list feels like it grows by the day, and every name on it hurts the balance of the team.
