Ali and Hunain Dismantle Rawalpindiz as Hyderabad Kingsmen Dominate with 121-Run Restriction

KARACHI: In a Match 24 of the Pakistan Super League, the Hyderabad Kingsmen’s delivered a bowling masterclass, restricting the Rawalpindiz to 121/9 at the National Stadium. On a surface that offered subtle assistance to the seamers, the Kingsmen capitalised on their decision to bowl first, leaving the "Pindiz" with a mountain to climb in the second innings.

The Pindiz innings never truly found its rhythm, stumbling early under the relentless pressure applied by the Kingsmen’s new-ball pair. Usman Khawaja’s lean patch continued as he was dismissed for just 2 by Maxwell. The departure of the veteran opener set the tone for a powerplay dominated by the fielding side. While Mohammad Rizwan looked to counter-attack with a few signature sweeps, his stay was cut short at 15.

The middle order offered little resistance and failed to convert starts into a substantial total. Sam Billings emerged as the lone warrior for the Pindiz, top-scoring with a gritty 26 off 22 deliveries.

Yasir Khan provided a spark of hope with 24, but his dismissal triggered a lower-order collapse that saw the Pindiz lose four wickets for just 19 runs in the death overs.

The star of the show was undoubtedly Mohammad Ali (3/21) and Hunain Shah (3/18). The Kingsmen’s skipper, Marnus Labuschagne, rotated his bowlers with clinical precision, ensuring the Pindiz batters could never settle into a comfortable scoring tempo.

Defending a target of 122 on a Karachi track that historically favours the chasing side will require a miraculous effort from the Pindiz bowling unit. They will look toward Mohammad Amir to provide early breakthroughs and exert the same pressure that plagued their own batting lineup.
