Rawalpindi PSL team has now its new cricket identity. The Rawalpindi PSL 11 Team Name was revealed on Sunday through a short, punchy video celebrating the city’s landmarks. The franchise will now compete as Pindiz in the upcoming Pakistan Super League season, set to run from March 26 to May 3.
The change follows a major ownership shift. The Walee Technologies PSL Franchise secured the team for Rs2.45 billion at the Expo Centre auction in Lahore earlier this month. It was one of the headline moments of this year’s league build-up.
After acquiring the rights, the Walee Technologies PSL Franchise exercised its option to rebrand. Owner Ahsan Tahir chose to link the team directly with Rawalpindi, giving it a city-first identity.
The 25-second launch clip carried bold messaging. “We’re bold. We’re challenging. We’re bringing the vibe,” the caption read. The video ended with three words: To be continued. The official logo will follow soon.
Previously known as Multan Sultans, the franchise entered the market after Ali Tareen opted not to renew the ownership agreement following PSL 10. The Pakistan Cricket Board briefly stepped in to oversee operations before moving ahead with a fresh bidding process.
PSL 11 will feature eight teams. Hyderabad Houston Kingsmen and Sialkot Stallionz have already joined the fold after successful bids worth Rs1.75 billion and Rs1.85 billion respectively.
Against that backdrop, the Rawalpindi PSL 11 Team Name announcement adds fresh intrigue. A new city focus with a new badge, and perhaps, a new era. The real test now begins on the field.
