Ravi Bopara reminded the cricketing world of his enduring class with a stunning unbeaten 105 that carried Northamptonshire into Vitality Blast Finals Day at the expense of favourites Surrey. On a damp evening at The Oval, the 40-year-old rolled back the years and turned a tricky chase into a night to remember.

Ravi Bopara reminded the cricketing world that he will always be remembered as a class act with a breathtaking performance of 105 that was unbeaten to lead Northamptonshire into Vitality Blast Finals Day at the expense of favourites Surrey. The 40-year-old turned a mission into a night of remembrance at The Oval.

The match had already been shortened to 14 overs a side because of rain, and Northants looked in trouble at 1 for 2 in the first over. Surrey sensed control, but Bopara had other plans. He settled the score and then gave furious retaliation, with 12 fours and five sixes giving him a rain of hits on the boundary.

Bopara later admitted his calmness was key. “When I feel a bit dead, that’s when I play my best,” he said with a smile. His composure showed in the way he built the knock, punishing loose balls without ever looking rushed.

Surrey’s captain Sam Curran threatened to spoil the party with an unbeaten 69, but the Northants attack, led by David Willey, held their nerve at the death. The result sealed a famous win and kept alive hopes of a third Blast crown for the county.

This knock was a reminder to Ravi Bopara and fans that legends are still there in T20 cricket and that age does not make a player fade away. T20 cricket Fans can also watch the highlights of The Hundred at tapmad, where many of these legendary players have been showing their skills.
